Atholl Players, Pitlochry’s other theatre company, moved up a whole dimension at the week-end of 5/6 July when members travelled to Derry in Northern Ireland to represent Scotland in the British Final of the One Act play competition.
SCDAWebThey were up against the winning teams from England, Northern Ireland and Wales. The cast of Fran Norris and David Brown with their support team of David Campbell, Iain McEwan, Ruth McLaren and John Wilson put on a strong performance, but unfortunately the adjudicator felt that England had been even stronger.
Provost Liz Grant of Perth and Kinross Council had given the Players a presentation plaque of the P&K coat of arms and Alan Norris’s picture shows Iain McEwan presenting it to the Mayor of the City of Derry, Councillor Martin Reilly, who then in return handed over a plaque of the Derry coat of arms to take back to Perthshire.
This was a major undertaking for such a small club and the Players wish to express their gratitude to the Rotary Club of Pitlochry and the Scottish Community Drama Association for generous help towards the cost of taking the production to Derry.
